Terry's House enhanced rendering
Fresno, CA (Nov. 23, 2009) – It was announced at the Community Medical Foundation’s Gala on Nov. 19 that construction on Terry’s House has been approved, and is scheduled to begin construction January of this year.
When completed, Terry’s House will be a 17,000 square-foot, two-story home with 20 guest rooms, and will be located close to the Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno. It will be a place where patients’ families to stay while their family member gets treatment.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held in January to mark the momentous occasion, and further enhance the exceptional care that Community Regional gives to its patients. The site is on the corner of Fresno and R streets, and the house should be in operation within a year’s time.
Terry’s House is being made possible through the generosity of private donors. Even though there are enough funds for the construction of the house, money is still needed to cover furnishings, furniture and families without the financial resources to stay.
“We care for patients from all over the Valley and beyond. Terry’s House will provide us the ability to care for the families as well,” said Lynn Bennink, trauma program director for Community Regional. “It will be a home for families of critically injured or burned patients that have to travel long distances to be close to their loved ones. Currently these families are sleeping in our waiting room or staying in expensive hotels.”
