Fresno, CA (Nov. 4, 2009) – For the second year in a row, the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be holding “The Edge” challenge during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Teams of four students from high schools, community colleges and Fresno State University will be competing. Lyles Center office manager Nancy Kobata said that last year’s competition was so enjoyable that it was decided it should be a yearly event.
Kobata explained about each team’s task during the competition.
“They’re each given a box of junk, miscellaneous items, buttons, pipe cleaners and miscellaneous parts of all kinds, and then they have to create a product, and then do a presentation on it,” she said.
Kobata said that since teams usually sign up right before the deadline, which is 5 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2009, it is not clear how many teams will be participating. Winners will receive a $50 iTunes gift card, and other prizes include Padfolios and briefcases. The competition will take place at the University Business Center at Fresno State University on Nov. 18, 2009. For more information, visit www.lylescenter.com.
